Sandalwood Essential Oil Botanical name of the oil is Santalum Album. Sandalwood tree is also called as Santalum spicatum. Sandalwood essential oil is obtained from the steam distillation of chips and billets cut from the heartwood of various species of sandal wood tree. The oil is used in perfumes, cosmetics and sacred unguents. In ayurveda the oil is used for the treatment of mental disorders and somatic disorders.
